  In order to strengthen the profession through excellent education and increase the recognition and prestige of the School of Accountancy, Ledger & Quill allocates your contributions in many different ways.  The following are the programs that L&Q advocates.

The Ledger & Quill Scholarships
L&Q annually presents a number of scholarships to superior students attending the School of Accountancy. Awards are full tuition, or "completion awards" to provide full tuition, and renewable for four years of study. Initiated in 1978, the awards program recently awarded the 45th L&Q Scholarship. Selection is by a special selection committee of the School and the L&Q Board.

The Ledger & Quill Student Excellence Awards
In recognition of excellence shown by current DePaul students, L&Q offers multiple $1500 awards in the Spring of each year. Award criteria include academic excellence and service to the School, student groups, university or community. Since 1996, over $20,000 in awards has been presented.

The Ledger & Quill Award of Merit
The Award of Merit is presented annually by the organization to one who has made significant contributions to the accounting profession, DePaul University, or accounting education. For a list of Award of Merit recipients since 1977, click here

The Ledger & Quill Professorships
In order to attract and retain the very best teaching scholars, L&Q established, in 1991, The Ledger & Quill Alumni Distinguished Professorship and the the L&Q Research Professorship. Mark L. Frigo currently serves as the L&Q Alumni Distinguished Professor, and the L&Q Research Professorship is currently held by Professor Emeritus Curtis C. Verschoor.

The Ledger & Quill Faculty Excellence Awards
In order to reward and recognize superior performance in the classroom and in educational research and development, L&Q presents annually Faculty Excellence Awards. There are two divisions: Teaching, for distinguished classroom performance, and educational for educational and pedagogical work which has an impact in the classroom. All School Faculty are eligible, and selection is by and L&Q selection committee.  For a list of Recipients, click here.

Endowment Fund Support:
L&Q members’ generosity extends to support other DePaul programs to encourage, support and reward excellence in professional accounting education. Each year L&Q provides major gifts to:

Eldred C. Strobel Fund – Endowment which provides the School’s prestigious Eldred C. Strobel scholarship

Helene Ramanauskas Fund – Which provides the annual Ramanauskas Prize to the top student in the MBA – Management Accounting Program at DePaul.

James F. Kidd Fund – Which provides the annual James F. Kidd Awards to the top student and teacher in the Master of Science in Taxation (MST) program of DePaul.

The "Success through Scholarship" Educational Fund at DePaul–Which provides scholarship support to superior School students through a permanent educational fund at DePaul.

The Robert M. Peters Scholarship Endowment--established in recognition of the distinguished career of former Strobel Honors Program director Robert M. Peters.

Student Group Support:
L&Q members also provide significant support to the School’s four student groups, for their academics, professional, and social events, as well as assisting them as needed with their relations with the Chicago business community. The School's student groups are:

The DePaul chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)
