Goals: To recognize and reward among College of Commerce students outstanding academic performance in the study of accountancy and management information systems, and to attract top students to the profession of accountancy.
Awards:
The 2007-08 program provides multiple one-time awards of up to $1000.
Eligibility:
Full-time first, second or possibly third year Commerce students who 1) have completed Acct. 101 and 102 in academic year 2007-08, 2) are largely undecided as to major, but are considering accounting and/or MIS as their major, and 3) have maintained a grade point average (accounting and overall) of 3.0 are eligible to participate in the program.
Students may receive only one L&Q Student Merit Award during their studies at DePaul. Students currently receiving scholarship support equal to full tuition regardless of source(s) are not eligible for these awards. Awards may be flexibly applied.
The Ledger & Quill Merit Awards are intended primarily for first and second year students; upper-class accounting students should apply for the Ledger & Quill Student Leadership Awards.
Requirements:
• Completion of the application form and narrative response questions.
• Current resume, including employment history.
• Letter (s) of recommendation, while not required, may be submitted. Recommendations may come from faculty, work superiors, or anyone knowledgeable of the applicant.
(The School will obtain your academic history for scholarship selection purposes; transcripts are not necessary.)
Selection Criteria:
Grade point average, accounting and overall
Intention to major in accounting, or consideration thereof
Employment/service contributions
Quality of responses to questions on application form

A faculty/alumni selection committee to be named will decide awards.
