2009-10 Scholarship and Award Programs for Current Accounting Students

Last year the School and your alumni association Ledger & Quill, as well as professional organizations, funded over $250,000 in 2008-09 scholarships and awards. Read over our complete 2008-09 scholarship and award roster elsewhere in the website.

SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARD PROGRAMS WE ANTICIPATE WILL BE OFFERED THROUGHOUT 2009-10 ARE LISTED BELOW; MOST PROGRAMS ARE FOR CONTINUING UPPER CLASS ACCOUNTING MAJORS. BE SURE TO CHECK THE SCHOOL OFFICES AND THIS WEBSITE FOR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. ALL AVAILABLE INFORMATION AND APPLICATIONS ARE IN THE SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTANCY OFFICES, 6000 DEPAUL CENTER.

Important update: increasingly scholarship and award programs include financial need as a factor, especially programs sponsored by the university or the School of Accountancy.  Students considering  applying for scholarship or award programs  MUST have a FAFSA--Free Application for Federal Student Aid--on file with the university's Financial Aid Office, in order to determine program eligibility. Student Essay Contest and Student Ethics Symposium

Fall 2009: Essay submission deadline Friday, January 8, 2010 

Spring 2010: Top finishers in the Fall quarter essay contest will compete for the $3000 Melvoin Ethics Prizes
awarded at the Melvoin Student Ethics Symposium,to be held Spring 2010, DePaul Center.

Last year's Melvoin Student Ethics Symposium '09 awardees were  Amber Hackman, Ryan Chmura and Delwyn Liang.

Multiple at $1500, for upper class acounting majors.

Multiple, various amounts up to $1000, for undeclared students completing Acct. 101/102.

Robert M. Peters Scholarships

Variable amounts up to $3000;  by faculty nomination, 2009-10 awards have been selected, and will be announced at the 2009 Ledger & Quill Fall Luncheon.

Success Through Scholarship Student Awards

Sponsored by the Success Through Scholarship Fund at DePaul University, in conjunction with the Illinois CPA Society and the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois.

Multiple, variable amount awards up to $3000. Success scholarships are renewable into the senior year. Applications will be  in the School offices, 6000 DPC.

Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship Program
Funded by the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois

Awards are for post-baccalaureate tuition, to complete the Illinois educational requirement to sit for the CPA Exam. Four years of education must be completed by August 31, 2010, in order to be eligible.

Criteria: achievement, need, and 150-hour completion plans.

Multiple awards, up to $4000.

Application deadline: April 1, 2010.

Illinois CPA Society Herman J. Neal Scholarshipsfor African American Accounting Students

Criteria: awards for junior, senior or fifth years; achievement, need, and 150-hour completion plans. Multiple awards, up to $4000.

Multiple, up to $4000, for high achieving female students in their final or fifth year, which includes graduate studies.
