Ledger & Quill is the alumni society of the DePaul School of Accountancy and MIS. It's around 2000 alumni professional accountants who regularly contribute to the School so we can provide you with the best accounting education possible.
Ledger & Quill adds value to you, to your education, and to your DePaul degree. Here's a few words on what L&Q does for you.
Professors Many contributors to the School provide you with the best professors available, and nationally. This way you get the best, most creative and challenging teachers, those who can deliver the best professional accounting education. The School currently has five "sponsored" professors--teachers whom the profession considers so effective that firms and alumni sponsor their teaching and research.
Ledger & Quill provides you the best professors, who provide you the best education, adding value and prestige to your DePaul accounting degree.
And L&Q can help you get that job.
Relations with Practice
Ledger & Quill provides the School with almost constant feedback on the trends and changing needs of the profession. With this information and insight, the School can continually fine-tune our curriculum, our courses, and even individual classes for increased effectiveness and relevance to practice. Ledger & Quill is our finger on the pulse of practice--your education is enhanced, your degree is enhanced, and certainly, down the road, your practice will be enhanced.
Ledger & Quill helps the School provide a timely and relevant curriculum, which provides you the best education, adding value and prestige to your DePaul accounting degree.
And L&Q can help you get that job.
Student Group Support
Ledger & Quill provides extensive financial support for the student groups in the School. If you've ever had pop and pizza at a meeting, attended a presentation or workshop, went to a reception or a dinner, read a group newsletter, earned an award, whatever . . . chances are Ledger & Quill picked up the tab.
Ledger & Quill supports the School's student groups because they, too, add value to your education. Participation in group programs and activities improves your organizational and communication skills, "people skills," time budgeting, and teamwork abilities. You become a better person, as well as forming lasting personal and professional friendships.
Ledger & Quill helps our student groups enhance your education and help you become a more responsible, professional and well-rounded professional, adding value and prestige to your DePaul accounting degree.
And L&Q can help you get that job.
Social Events
Ledger & Quill provides students--especially seniors--with opportunities to meet with practitioners in social settings, to rub shoulders with partners and generally get to know the profession better. Graduating seniors are invited to the annual Spring Reception-on-the-Lake cruise, and recent grads should make it a point to attend the Fall Luncheon.
The Ledger & Quill Student Mixers, initiated recently, are a means of meeting and talking informally (and in a NON-recruiting setting!) about the profession, opportunities, career paths and, most popularly, "what's your day like?"
Ledger & Quill helps our students by providing casual and enjoyable events --and valuable-- at which students and new graduates can meet and socialize with practicing professionals.
and L&Q can help you get that job.
Networking
In Chicago, "DePaul" and "accounting" are just about synonyms: there's a huge DePaul presence in the Chicago business and accounting communities, and Ledger & Quill is one of the largest accounting networks in Chicago. Sooner or later, you'll be bumping into DePaul alums, and Ledger & Quill members--and there is a common bond immediately. There's something you share, something to talk about.
Ledger & Quill's social events, Board and Executive Committee, and newsletter allow you to stay in touch with the School, DePaul, classmates and former professors, and, in many cases, DePaul alums at your current, prior, or future firms. L&Q is a great way to stay connected to the accounting community, from graduation day and throughout your career.
Ledger & Quill helps our students by providing access to one of the largest social and professional accounting alumni networks in the nation.
And Ledger & Quill can help land that job.
New to Ledger & Quill, an "affinity" group for new and more recent alumni of the School of Accountancy and MIS. Planned events include casual receptions, happy hours, and maybe a sporting or cultural event or two. Meet with friends and colleagues out of the office, make new contacts and enjoy networking events for those recently out of the classroom and starting their professional careers.

And homecoming weekends are fun, too.
By joining L&Q, you are automatically a member of the DePaul Alumni Association, further expanding your network of classmates, friends, and colleagues.
And L&Q can help you get that job.
Tradition and Continuity
Since 1972, thousands of DePaul accounting alumni have contributed conservatively five million dollars to DePaul and the School--just to see that you have the best educational experience we can manage. The best teachers, the best curriculum, the best technology, the best student groups, the best education, the best degree, the best network.
These alums also realize that the best way to increase the value of their DePaul degree is to maintain and increase the value of your DePaul degree. And they've been doing it consistently for over thirty years. That's way before you were even born.
Sooner or later it will be your turn. When it is, we'll be waiting.
And that's what L&Q does for you. And here's the people who make L&Q what it is:
