Supported Programs

In order to strengthen the profession through excellent education and increase the recognition and prestige of the School of Accountancy, Ledger & Quill allocates your contributions in many different ways. The following are the programs that L&Q advocates.

The Ledger & Quill Scholarships

L&Q annually presents a number of scholarships to superior students attending the School of Accountancy. Awards are renewable for four years of study. Selection is by a special selection committee of the School and the L&Q Board. Current year scholarships exceed $230,000.

The Ledger & Quill Student Excellence Awards

In recognition of excellence shown by current DePaul students, L&Q offers multiple $1,500 awards in the spring of each year. Award criteria include academic excellence and service to the School, student groups, university or community. Since 1996, over $50,000 in awards have been presented.

The Ledger & Quill Award of Merit

The Award of Merit is presented annually by the organization to one who has made significant contributions to the accounting profession, DePaul University, or accounting education. For a list of Award of Merit recipients since 1977, click here.

The Ledger & Quill Professorships

In order to attract and retain the very best teaching scholars, L&Q established, in 1991, The Ledger & Quill Alumni Distinguished Professorship and the L&Q Research Professorship. Mark L. Frigo currently serves as the L&Q Alumni Distinguished Professor, and the L&Q Research Professorship is currently held by Professor Emeritus Curtis C. Verschoor. These are joined by the School’s other distinguished professorships: Deloitte Alumni Professor John E. McEnroe, Ernst & Young Professor Belverd E. Needles, and KPMG Alumni Professor and School Director  Kevin Stevens.
