Welcome to Ledger & Quill!

Welcome to Ledger & Quill, the alumni society of the School of Accountancy and MIS at DePaul University. Established in 1972 and now entering its 38th consecutive year of service to the School, DePaul, and the profession, L&Q’s over 1000 members provide support for the faculty and students of the School.

I’m honored to have been selected to serve as our 19th president, and look forward to the support and confidence of the Executive Committee, the Board, and the L&Q membership as we head into another year of student, alumni, and member activity. It is good to know that we can always count on the support and expertise of past L&Q presidents Edward Fellin and David Berek, School Director Kevin Stevens and Commerce Dean Ray Whittington, and our good friends and colleagues in the university’s Office of Alumni Relations. I’m very thankful for their assistance and counsel over the years.

For almost four decades, L&Q’s basic goal has remained consistent: to attract the best, educate the best, and graduate the best. Through your support, I am proud to say we have achieved these goals and I look forward to our future success. Your generosity has allowed us to provide over $200,000 in scholarships annually for the last four years—a remarkable achievement by any organization. Together we continue to honor the Vincentian heritage of making possible a life-transforming education, especially to those most deserving of our support.

The year ahead already looks to be another excellent one: over 40 alums and members attended the L&Q Summer Reunion, August 25, at the ICPAS Show in Rosemont; the Executive Committee and Board have set their calendars and agendas for the year, and our 2009-10 committees are beginning their work. We’re also undertaking an L&Q Young Alumni initiative, to focus efforts on attracting newer alums to L&Q. With help from the university, we’re also increasing our activity in social media, and will soon be visible on Facebook and Linkedin.

Our 35th Annual Fall Luncheon (Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 11:30am, at our traditional venue, the beautiful Empire Room of the Palmer House Hilton) will feature university President Rev. Dennis M. Holtschneider, C.M., in his first appearance at our annual celebration of excellence and DePaul. Be sure to be on hand as we introduce our latest scholarship recipients!

We hope you’ll take the time to look around our website (sections of which are still in progress), read our newsletters, and attend our events. We are a strong, robust, well-known 40-year old organization, and can be a valuable network. If you’re already a member, thanks again for your support. But if you’re not yet a member, join us and become a part of L&Q—together we’re doing great things!

Sincerely,

Jenny Ciszewski,
