Networking and Careers
The School of Accountancy maintains close ties and relationships with members of the accounting and business community. Its advisory groups, composed of top executives from accounting and finance, keep the School abreast of the latest trends, developments and needs in business, enabling the School be responsive to change. Business knows the quality of a DePaul degree because business helped shape it. Ledger & Quill, the alumni group of the School of Accountancy, includes close to 1500 active members at hundreds of firms through Chicago and the Midwest, and is one of the largest accounting networks in Chicago. Ledger & Quill provides many valuable opportunities for student relations with alumni, executives, and firm recruiters.

There are also extensive internship opportunities for students to pursue significant, part-time accounting work in Chicago.

And, again, location, location, location. A visit to DePaul by a major employer is not a once-a term or once a year event. DePaul and business--especially the accounting and finance community--are very literally neighbors, and student-recruiter or student-alum interaction is frequent and casual.

Finally, do not neglect student group participation for networking and career development. The School's student groups are especially involved with firms: firm visits, technical presentations, social events, "Meet The Firms Night" and a "Firm Resume Book for students are but a few ways members of student groups can get to meet and know firms and firm representatives while still undergraduates. Most of the groups post their activities on their websites, so visit the sites and see the opportunities.
