Adult Student Center

The Adult Student Center is a one-stop resource center where adult students can network, find resources on financial/career planning, academic skill development, life balance issues, get their questions answered, study, relax, and grab a quick cup of coffee or water. Throughout the year, the Center hosts small group discussion forums and social activities for adult students.

It is also a place for faculty and staff who work with adult students to discuss issues that are important to the success of this student population.

Resources Available at the Adult Student Center include:

  • Computers where students can check their email or finish class work
  • An area for informal group projects and meetings
  • Places to relax, have a snack, and catch up with classmates
  • Staff that can help you navigate through the campus
  • A library of resources geared towards adult students, such as books on budgeting, work/life balance, study skills, and resume building
  • A library of current magazines, including Time, Crain’s Chicago Business, The Economist, People, More, and Black Enterprise
  • Information on current university events and internal newsletters from various departments
  • Events like exam breaks, career changer forums and Adult, Graduate and Professional Student Week

Hours and Location

The Center is located in 11017 DePaul Center and has extended hours during the regular academic year (8:00am-8:00pm, Monday - Thursday and 8:00am-5:00pm on Friday).

Transitions 101

is a non-credit, on-line course designed to assist undergraduate adult students (24+ years of age) with the transition to DePaul. Using important campus partners, the team approach will be utilized to ensure that students fully benefit from the resources and services available on campus. Major Topics Covered include library services and other academic resources, financial accounts, study and organizational skill development, campus resources, financial planning, and career development. Adult Student Association

The Adult Student Association at DePaul (ASA) is an Association devoted to helping adult students cope with the trials and tribulations of university life. We are comprised of undergraduate/graduate students, aged 24 or older, who have decided to return to college to further our education and careers. Our members have either never attended college or have taken a break in their formal educations. Adult students presently comprise over 54% of the student population at DePaul University.
